Floods in South Germany

Psychosocial Support and Rehabilitation for Flood-Affected Communities

Following the severe floods that struck South Germany in 2024, OlamAid, in collaboration with local partners, has been actively providing aid and relief to affected communities. Our efforts focus on particularly vulnerable groups, including children, school communities, and elderly care workers, offering mental health support, stress relief interventions, and assistance with reconstruction.

In recent years, OlamAid has successfully engaged volunteers, including individuals with refugee backgrounds, to support affected communities. This approach fosters intergenerational and intercultural solidarity while ensuring direct assistance for those in need.

Our psychosocial support (PSS) efforts include an art therapy program for children in schools in Rudersberg, Baden-Württemberg, helping them process trauma and regain a sense of stability. Additionally, stress relief activities are provided to elderly care workers in Schrobenhausen, Bavaria, enhancing their well-being and enabling them to continue their essential work. Alongside these initiatives, the project supports the reconstruction of affected social institutions and households, helping communities rebuild both physically and emotionally.

Through this initiative, OlamAid is committed to restoring stability, mental well-being, and a sense of community for those impacted by the floods, helping them rebuild their lives with resilience.
