What is art therapy?

‍

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses the power of art to maintain and improve an individual's emotional well-being through creative expression. Unlike traditional art teaching, which focuses on developing artistic skills, art therapists focus on therapeutic relationships. Participants are encouraged to externalise emotions and personal themes using a variety of art materials. The creative process is more important than the end product: Expressing oneself creatively will help participants to make sense of their experiences.
