Children with disabilities and their families were already among the most disadvantaged population groups in Ukraine before Russia's war of aggression. Since the war began, this situation has worsened – the western Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi has become a place of refuge for tens of thousands of families. As a result, the need for medical and therapeutic care has risen sharply.
The Bukovina Center for Comprehensive Child Rehabilitation in Chernivtsi has been supported by OlamAid together with our partner organization ZWST since 2023.
The center cares for children with autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, and neurological and physical impairments from across the region – including children orphaned by the war. It has 46 inpatient beds, where children typically stay for a full month and receive intensive diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative care every day. In addition, around 1,500 children receive outpatient treatment and take part in therapies and medical care each month.
To continue meeting this growing need, the center relies on additional support.
