In recent months, power outages across many Ukrainian cities have severely affected people’s daily lives. Families faced freezing indoor temperatures during the winter and had limited access to electricity. Even basic needs such as warmth, light, and communication were not always guaranteed, making everyday life a daily test of resilience.
To mitigate the effects of the power outages, OlamAid, in cooperation with ZWST and in close collaboration with the local partner Avalist, organized the rapid delivery of essential supplies. These included power banks to keep communication lines open, food for affected families, and heated sleeping bags to ensure warmth during freezing nights. Additionally, fuel and portable EcoFlow power stations were provided to enable temporary, autonomous electricity when the public grid failed.
Thanks to this support, local facilities - including the Masorti Community in Kyiv, the Emergency Safe Space (Bomb Shelter) in Rusanivka, and the Masorti School in Kharkiv - could continue offering safe and reliable spaces for children, families, and community members. Families were able to charge their phones, stay informed, and remain connected. Children gathered in heated rooms, and the community found not only physical warmth but also emotional reassurance.
At a time when power outages were widespread and uncertainty prevailed, our rapid and coordinated support helped ensure that affected communities were not left alone.
