Together with OlamAid, Zikaron Basalon, and Juice Platform, we gathered for an evening dedicated to "Svitlana Petrovska: Survival, Memory, and Testimony."
Svitlana Petrovska’s life carries the weight of history across generations: from surviving the Holocaust and living under an authoritarian regime to the recent invasion of Ukraine, which forced her to leave her home and rebuild her life in Berlin. Listening to her was a powerful reminder that resilience is not a single moment, but an ongoing process. It is the ability to endure, adapt, and move forward, even when crises recur in different forms.
For us as a humanitarian organization, her story reflects the reality many people face today: crises are often complex and enduring, and resilience is something that must be supported, protected, and nurtured. Under the empathetic moderation of Lana Lux, the conversation created a space where memory met the present, and where past and current realities became deeply intertwined.
One participant shared:
„It made me realize how history is not something distant it lives in people and it continues.“
This is why we create these spaces: to listen, to learn, and to strengthen our collective responsibility to stand up for dignity, even in times of crisis. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and made this evening so meaningful.
